What Does The Description of Your Job Really Say?

What Does The Description of Your Job Really Say?

It’s like the resume for the task when you write a job description for an open position. And just as you want the candidates’ resumes to stand out, the same thing needs to be done with your work. How can you make it interesting enough for them to submit their resume when you create a job post to attract top talent, including millennials? Here are a couple of tips.

Let them understand why they need to apply

People just don’t want a job; they want a job that they enjoy. And you don’t just want a staff member, you want a staff member who is a good match for your business. So, talk about what you have to give as an employer. Why, instead of countless other jobs, do they want to apply for your job?

Show Your Goal and Mission

You need to dig deep into your organizational ideals and purpose to give future workers a true sense of who you are as an employer. Beyond just turning a profit, demonstrate your intent. You want to paint an image that encourages millennial workers to see themselves working for your company, feeling respected and making a difference.

Good Work/Life balance

The millennials led the drive to bring back their work / life balance more than any other generation. In terms of when they take time away from the workplace, they want to be able to quit work at work, not be micromanaged, and even trusted to work effectively in a remote situation.

Unique voice

In your work postings, you also want to share your distinctive voice. For instance, if you are looking for an administrative assistant and you build a job description with a fairly boilerplate, what would inspire someone to apply with you instead of another job. Without being too cutesy or smart, be special. Be truly excited about the job you are doing and the opportunity you get.

Be Comprehensive

A job description can’t, of course, be all about anything but the job. You will have to be clear about what you are searching for. Here’s the thing, your job description is probably going to be a flawless candidate snapshot, but that doesn’t mean every candidate is going to check every box or that those candidates aren’t perfect for the job. Be straightforward on what you’re looking for and you’ll see a lot of eligible applicants.

Conclusion

Someone who, when appropriate, is courageous and willing to speak up. Perhaps this might be a concern for you if you are a person who likes to do your work in a quieter environment. It is certainly not easy, through a limited job description, to always be able to read out the intentions of your future employer.
